Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
Classic colorized image of the two-time Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens lined up outside the fabled Forum after their Cup run in the spring of 1931 is an original and in outstanding condition. Figuring beer drinkers would take the advice of their beloved hockey heroes, Frontenac Ale producers got the boys to “Recommend Frontenac Export Ale.” Rice Studio creation captures Montreal legends Morenz, Joliat, Hainsworth, Gagnon, Leduc, Lepine, the Mantha brothers and others, and includes their facsimile signatures beneath their respective images. Coach Cecil Hart and manager Leo Dandurand are also pictured. Housed in a handsome wooden frame which had “Molson’s Brewery Limited” applied later in golden letters, a few of which have peeled, the delectable display is ready to show off with pride.
