Jean Beliveau Foundation Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/11/2008
Sensational tribute to hockey immortal Jean Beliveau is a scaled-down
replica of the giant bronze statue erected in August of 2007 in front of Le Colisee Jean Beliveau in Longueuil, Quebec, the Montreal south shore suburb where Mr. and Mrs. Beliveau lived for more than 50 years. The City re-christened its arena in 1970 and voted to mark the city’s 350th anniversary last year with a dazzling work of art of its most famous citizen. Created by artists Jules Lasalle and Annick Bourgeau, the impressive likeness to Beliveau has left many an admirer awestruck since its unveiling. The heavy piece here weighs considerably less than the 800-pound beauty in Longueuil and similarly captures the former Montreal Canadiens’ captain in the latter stages of his career, Victoriaville Pro model stick in hand.
On a wooden base and standing 18” high, this particular bronze is numbered “2/50” and is in perfect condition. A perfectly exquisite addition to your Beliveau shrine, it will come with a letter of authenticity signed by the Habs’ foremost ambassador and a giant among hockey legends.
