Known by his nicknames "K-Mart" and "The Old Bear", Kevin Martin has won pretty much all one can in the sport of curling including an Olympic gold medal on home soil in 2010, a world champion in 2008 and multiple Brier's, the annual Canadian men's curling championship. The record holder for most victories at the Winter Olympic Games with twenty (20), Martin served as a major influence in the development of the sport of curling, establishing the competitive tier in the sport and setting the groundwork for the management of curling teams and the creation of high-level competitive curling events. Named the greatest Canadian male skip in the country's curling history in a 2019 poll by TSN, offered here is this podium jacket worn by Martin as a member of Team Canada at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France. Then a demonstration sport and leading Canada to a fourth (4th) place finish, the jacket, made by Jupa Sports features brand, "3M Thinsulate", "Femmes Ladies 14" and "Made in Hong Kong" labels affixed to the inner collar while rubberized brand logos have been added over the left side the of the purple collar and over the reverse neckline. Mostly white with purple and silver 3M accents throughout, including a maple leaf on the reverse, other brand labels are found over the lower reverse as well. Sporting a snap button and zipper closure over the front, the jacket is found in good condition overall with some spot stains present in areas of the body and both sleeves that are associated with use and age/storage.
Additionally, also included with the jacket is a box set of 1992 Canadian Winter Olympic Collector Cards. A captivating and timeless tribute to Canada's finest athletes who competed in the XVI Olympic Winter Games held in Albertville, France. These captivating cards celebrate the incredible talent, determination, and passion of the Canadian competitors who battled the elements and the world's best to capture the hearts of fans across the globe. Sporting a checklist that includes names such as such as figure skater Kurt Browning, speed skater Catriona Le May Doan, and ice hockey standout Eric Lindros, the cards show in overall excellent condition with just some light wear to the corners, edges and surfaces on some examples that is worth noting for accuracy while the box itself is also in good condition with just light wear from age and handling.
Both hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Miller will accompany the lot.
