A product of Finland's KalPa system at both the junior and senior levels of play, Kasperi Kapanen would hear his name called 22nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and has since gone on to play in nearly 450 National Hockey League games with the likes of Pittsburgh, Toronto and St. Louis. A gold medalist with Finland at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, offered here is this collection of equipment worn/used by Kapanen as a member of either the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs or AHL's Toronto Marlies during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons of play.
Starting with the jersey, a white Toronto Maple Leafs offering from the 2015-16 season that is made by Reebok, a lone size "56" label is affixed to the inner collar and NHL plus Reebok logos have been added over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Maple Leafs team crest that has had "Toronto Maple Leafs" embroidered into it, matching alternate logo patches have been added over both shoulders. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Kapanen's number "37" in single layer blue twill numerals, "Kapanen" is spelt out in matching style blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at upper reverse. Having had a Maple Leafs team tag sewn on inside the reverse hem and accompanied by a matching Leafs LOA stating that it was worn on March 2, 2016 against the Washington Capitals, Kapanen's first road game as a Maple Leaf, the jersey shows just light game-wear via light stick marks under crest and over both sleeves, a couple of light board burns over both sleeves and a small red board paint transfer mark over the right sleeve. With the team store label still affixed to the size tag of the inner collar, the jersey is photo-matched with Getty Image #675622198 (April 7th, 2016 vs Philadelphia) to the board burn through the top of the "3" on the right sleeve.
For the stick, a CCM made Super Tacks 2.0 model with "Kapanen" factory graphics over the upper shaft, the twig was used by him during the 2016-17 season with the Maple Leafs and is accompanied by a team LOA. Still retaining its original tape job of black around the handle/knob and wrapped over the blade as well, the stick displays light-to-moderate game-wear including a handful of marks and abrasions throughout the length of the shaft with additional ones over the lower shaft, heel and blade as well while the blade tape shows light marks over both sides.
For the gloves, worn by Kapanen during the 2015-16 season as a member of the Maple Leafs, the Bauer made gauntlets are a Supreme Total One NXG model in Toronto's blue and white colourway with "Kapanen" embroidered into the outside of each wrist. Accompanied by a Maple Leafs LOA, the hand coverings show game-wear via a few marks and abrasions over the exterior while both palms show rubbing, heaviest on the left one, which also includes a small unrepaired hole. Additonally, sweat staining is observed in the cuff as well.
Finally, to close it out, is a pair of Bauer Supreme TotalOne MX3 skates that were worn by Kapanen for a portion of the 2015-16 AHL season with the Toronto Marlies as well as with Team Finland at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in which Team Finland won gold in overtime over Team Russia on a goal by Kapanen. Accompanied by a Marlies LOA, the skates include their original steel and laces with shot blocking reinforcements over both sides of each skate. Having had Marlies player identifier labels added to the bottom of each skate boot, as well as "5/8" stickers for sharpening information, the skates show good wear with numerous marks and abrasions as well as scuffs, cuffs and frays as well. Measuring roughly a size 8.5 the original insoles are included as well.
