Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the class of 1981, Johnny Bucyk would play a total of 1540 games over the course of his National Hockey League career, spending most of them in the black and gold uniform of the Boston Bruins, a franchise he has been a part of in some capacity since the late-1950s. A two-time Stanley Cup champion who recorded sixteen (16) seasons of scoring twenty (20) goals or more, Bucyk had a reputation for devastating hip checks but was a notoriously clean player and was awarded the Lady Byng Trophy in both 1971 and 1974. Offered here, we present this stick used by Bucyk as a member of the Bruins in the era of the early-1970s. A Sher-Wood "Pattern Pro" model with "9 Bucyk" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of white over the handle/knob and black over the blade, though it should be mentioned that it appears as some of the black tape was removed. Signed by the man affectionately known simply as "Chief" with a blue marker signature over one side of the upper shaft, Bucyk has added an annotation in matching ink that reads "To Jimmy Best of Luck" with both the signature and annotation displaying well and remaining in excellent condition overall. For the stick, sporting a pair of mostly intact accent stickers over the lower shaft, game-use is observed via some marks and abrasions throughout that are heaviest over the blade, which has a crack ink in near the toe. Also showing a number reading "12871" in pencil near the heel on the underside of the stick, some discolouration is seen to the shaft, heaviest near the handle/knob.
