Born to a mother who competed at the 1964 and 1968 Olympic in speed skating and to a father who played on Canada's national hockey team from 1967 to 1969 before becoming a sports psychologist for numerous National Hockey League teams, Jennifer Botterill was virtually destined for hockey greatest and did just that, winning gold medals in three (3) Olympics with Canada as well as a silver and numerous IIHF World Championship gold medals as well. Recognized by both Harvard University and numerous media outlets as the U.S. college ice hockey's career scoring leader (149 goals, 170 assists, 319 points), she scored at least one point in 112 of her 113 career college games, including a streak of 80 consecutive contests. Offered here, we present this Team Canada jersey worn by Botterill at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City where she recorded six (6) points in five (5) games as Canada won their first Olympic Women's Ice Hockey gold medal. Made by Nike, brand/size "52" tagging is affixed to the inner collar along with additional "Made in Canada", "W" (women's cut) and "IIHF Authentic Collection" labels as well while Nike "swoosh" crests adorn the reverse neckline and right breast respectively. Having had an IIHF crest over the reverse hem, the front go the tie-neck garment is decorated with a heritage Hockey Canada team crest in layered tackle twill while an additional component with "Canada" spelt out across it in black twill letters has been added underneath. Sporting Hockey Canada crests over both shoulders, Botterill's number "17" has been sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer white-over-black tackle twill numerals while "Botterill" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying just light game-wear in the from of a couple small stick marks over the right sleeve and an additional couple spots over the left elbow area, some scrapes/marks are present in the front crest as well while pilling and fabric snags are found at the back of the collar and throughout the body. Showing some very light pilling near both elbows on the interior, a Hockey Canada LOA will accompany the piece.
