The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Jean Beliveau captured his second most valuable player award in 1963-64 after leading the Canadiens to a first place finish. His 78 points, 28 of them goals, were third in the league behind Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull but Montreal's 85 points were one better than the Black Hawks. This silver-plated miniature Hart trophy commemorates Beliveau's grand season and features golden flames that engulf the trophy's crown. Engraved on it is "Hart Memorial Trophy - Presented to the National Hockey League as its Most Valuable Player Award - 1923". A metal plate on the 3-inch high wooden hexagon-shaped base is engraved "Jean Beliveau - Montreal Canadiens - 1963-64". Beliveau edged out Hull in voting for the Hart. This trophy was produced in recent years by the renowned Boffey company and is in striking near mint condition. Jean Beliveau will sign a LOA that will accompany this exquisite piece.
