Earning his second of three-consecutive First Team All-Star selections in 1955-56, Jean Beliveau would lead the Canadiens in both points and PIM that season, with Detroit managing just a single win in the Stanley Cup final to allow the Habs their first of five consecutive Stanley Cup championships. This Art Ross award was presented to the superstar in 1955-56, the only season he was honoured with the trophy. At approx 11” in length, the lidded oval bowl with chased handle sports stampings along the underside including “43 Wm A. ROGERS 940”, with engraved text stating “Souvenir of the Art Ross Trophy – Presented by Arthur H. Ross to the National Hockey League 1948 – To the Player who Scores the Largest Number of Points in the Regular Championship Schedule Games - Won by Jean Beliveau – Club de Hockey Canadien Inc. – Season 1955-56”. Originally acquired directly from Jean Beliveau, his signed LOA will accompany.
Coated with an even layer of tarnish throughout, the award remains in beautiful condition, with a few minor surface scratches to the interior bowl. We should also note that the handle on the lid is loose.
