Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Drafted at the conclusion of the 1972 NHL season, we have Jacques Plante’s Toronto Maple Leafs contract, and it’s been drawn to cover the next two seasons, 1972-73 and 1973-74 respectively. At 8 ½” x 17” (unfolded), the official Standard Player’s Contract called for Plante to earn $85,000 per season, with no additional clauses/bonuses listed. Stamped by the Central Registry, gorgeous signatures are present from both Plante (fiber-tip) and NHL President Clarence Campbell (ballpoint), with just some minor infringement to the Plante example from a signature placed above. The contract itself exhibits light expected handling wear. The 1972-73 season would be Plante’s last in Ontario, moving on to the big bad Bruins for his final 8 NHL regular season games near the end of the season.
