Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
One of the most successful clubs throughout the AHL’s history, the Cleveland Barons’ were ten-time division champions, with an additional nine Calder Cups won during their 35+ season tenure. We have a scarce-style Barons jersey from the 1966-67 season, attributed to Jacques Lemieux. A Cleveland Sport Goods Co label sits along the collar, with the vintage durene sweater measuring-out to approx a size 52. Sporting a monocle and top hat-wearing “baron”, the team crest feature’s chain-stitched detailing, with “2” over the sleeve and verso in single white twill. The font of the sleeve numbers matches the 1966-67 team photo, with a different font used in the previous season, with the jersey style changed for 1967-68. Lemieux wore “2” with the Barons in 1966-67, hence the attribution to the Quebec native.
With a clean team crest and bright blue and white colouration, the “2” on the right sleeve is bunched-up and partially detached. There is also a bit of light pilling, with a few fabric pulls visible, with a hole over the left breast and the original tie-string no longer present.
