Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Grant Fuhr is a member of hockey's elusive 400-win club. His stellar netminding led the Oilers to five Stanley Cups in a seven-year period, more than enough to warrant his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003. These weathered D&R leg pads were worn by Fuhr in 1988-89 or 1989-90 while with Edmonton. This set, made by D&R in orange, blue and white, has FUHR graphics down low on each pad and the manufacturer's logos have been blacked out due to advertising regulations put in place by the NHL at the time. Loaded with wear including significant scuffing along with numerous stick and puck marks, this great pair of game-worn pads has been conclusively photo-matched to action shots with three very identifiable distinctions. The winning bidder will receive digital images for each of these very distinctive matches.
The three very identifiable distinctions are: 1) the unique puckering pattern in the folds of the orange leather at the top of both pads just above the three middle blue bands; 2) distinctive black horizontal marks on the lower part of the white padding on the inside edge of the front of the right pad; and 3) black marks along the white padding and onto the orange padding on the lower part of the outside edge of the left pad.
