Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Winning six Grand Prix races in a short career that lasted from 1978 until his untimely death in 1982, legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve would finish 2nd in the 1979 Formula One World Drivers' Championship standings, four points behind Ferrari teammate Jody Scheckter. A hero even to this day in the Canadian sporting scene, with the track in Canada that hosts the country's yearly race baring his name (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve), offered here is this postcard that has been signed by the racing hero. With an image from 1978 appearing over the front, the card, issued by Labatt Breweries, measures the standard 4" x 6" size and has been signed by Gilles on the reverse with a blue ballpoint pen ink signature that displays without issue. Remaining in overall good condition, some edge and corner wear is observed throughout, including light-to-moderates dings to all four (4) points while light creases extend in towards the middle about an inch at the left and right edges. Toned and showing some foxing around the edges on the reverse, don't miss out on this seldom seen signature for your esteemed collection! A JSA Auction LOA will accompany.
