Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Remembered as the back-up to Tom Barrasso during the Pittsburgh Penguins magical Stanley Cup run in 1991, Frank Pietrangelo would play parts of five seasons in Steel City, heading east to Hartford and the Whalers during the 1991-92 season. We have a jersey worn by the Niagara Falls native during the second and third periods of Game 5 against Minnesota, and in other games where he was the back-up to Barrasso in the finals. Maska Ultrafil tagging with handwritten “40” appears along the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the back bottom hem. Styled with a textured Pens team crest, the solid white V-neck has been accented with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the important Stanley Cup finals crest situated just above the right breast.
Game-wear includes marks over the lower front, with some light pilling in spots. There is also a small stain between the collar and team crest.
