Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
A veteran of exactly five hundred (500) National Hockey League games with each one occurring in the uniform of the New York Rangers, Edgar Laprade, an Allen Cup champion in 1939 and a Calder Cup champion in 1946, would play in three (3) NHL All-Star Games during his career, was ranked No. 24 all-time out of the 901 New York Rangers who had played during the team's first 82 seasons and be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993. Often times one of the only bright lights on talent-poor Rangers teams and an extremely clean player who did not incur a single minor penalty in three (3) of his ten (10) NHL seasons, offered here is this lot that consists of Laprade’s 1948 Schaefer Award and NHL Oldtimers' cufflinks. Starting with the Schaefer Award, a gold money clip with chain and fob that bears his “E.L.” initials, the piece is dated "10-27-48" at the bottom of the clip portion and is stamped with “1/20 12K” over the reverse. For the cufflinks, gold in colour and made by Swank, the brand is stamped over the stem of each while "Montreal NHL Oldtimers" is inscribed over the front, along with the images of a hockey stick and a crutch. Both remaining in overall excellent condition, both pieces show just some very light scratches and scuffs from age and wear.
