All-Star defenseman Dion Phaneuf’s 2008-09 Calgary Flames game-worn jersey sports the distinctive “A” sewn on the left breast, the Canadian flag patch on the left shoulder and the flag of the Province of Alberta on the right shoulder. The black, white and golden-yellow triple twill alternate captain’s “A” is a nod to the franchise’s roots as the Atlanta Flames, who joined the NHL in 1972 and moved to Calgary in 1980. Phaneuf, who was selected ninth overall by the Flames in the 2003 NHL Draft, had 11 goals and 36 assists for 47 points in his fourth of five seasons in Calgary. A size 58+ flag tag sits in the back of the neck, which has “3” handwritten in black marker within the outline of the white thread stitching from the Reebok patch sewn below the collar on the upper back. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2008-2009 Season patch sewn inside the rear tail displays registry No. F10885. Game wear includes black marks on the yellow and white vertical stripes on the left hip, some pilling inside the rear hem, a board burn on the black portion of the lower right sleeve and various fabric pulls on the front and both sleeves. Comes with a Flames LOA, which matches the MeiGray registry number and states that Phaneuf’s jersey is from Calgary’s “Red Set 1” for the 2008-09 NHL season.
