A product of the OMJHL's London Knights who would go undrafted by NHL squads, Dino Ciccarelli would sign with the Minnesota North Stars in September of 1979 and go on to a National Hockey League career that would span a total of nineteen (19) seasons and see him play 1232 games with the likes of Minnesota, Washington, Detroit, Tampa Bay and Florida. Able to boast about having exactly 1200 career points under his belt including 608 goals, Ciccarelli would join the exclusive 1000 point club of the National Hockey League on March 9th, 1994. Putting him in the company of only thirty-nine (39) other NHLers at that point in time, with Dino being the 40th to accomplish the feat, the historic marker would come at the 7:29 mark of the second period by way of lighting the lamp against Mike Vernon and the Calgary Flames on a goal that would be assisted by Steve Yzerman and be an insurance marker in Detroit's 5-1 victory that night. Offered here, we proudly present this stick and puck used by Ciccarelli to register his 1000th career NHL point as well as framed photo display that features a sequence of pictures pertaining to the goal.
Starting with the puck, a correct model InGlasCo offering used by the Flames from the 1993-94 season, the obverse face of the black biscuit features an NHL shield logo as well as the facsimile signature of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman while the reverse face sports a Flames logo and word mark. Displaying evidence of game-use in the form of various scratches and scuffs over both faces, a piece of tape that has had "1000" penned to it in black marker has been placed over the one side with the monumental notation having faded in places from age. Having been photo-matched to images from the aforementioned framed display, the puck is matched to the two pictures at the top of the display to the length of the tape on the one face and how it is cut at either end with the handwritten "1000" notation also matching perfectly in shape and size despite the previously mentioned fading that is present.
For the stick, an Easton made 7000 Super Light model, the twig retains its original white cloth tape job over the handle/knob while a wooden extension has been added to the top of the shaft and heavily shaved down. Having had a "1000" notation penned over the top of the butt end in black marker ink and displaying "Ciccarelli" stamped over the stem of the inserted Easton wooden blade, "1000 Pts/Calgary" is also penned on the forehand side of the blade tape near the toe, once again in matching black marker ink as well. Displaying good game-use, some light marks and abrasions are present throughout the length of the shaft while some soiling is observed over the handle tape from Ciccarelli's gloves. For the blade tape, black puck marks are found over both sides as well as a small tear at the top edge of the middle of the blade. Also showing some red post paint transfer marks on the backhand part of the heel, it is worth mentioning for accuracy that the stick being offered is NOT the one Ciccarelli is holding in the photos of the included frame as you can clearly see an handwritten "22" on the knob and that the placement on the bottom of the tape job on the knob doesn't match. Having said that, we do believe the offered stick is his actual "1000th" point stick, with the stick on the photos most likely grabbed for the photo shoot.
For the frame itself, featuring a trio of photos from the historic night pertaining to the goal that are all displayed under marble-esque looking mattes, the simple grey metal frame measures out to approximately 28 1/2" x 22 1/2" and shows light wear to the corners and edges. Lastly, other items that came from the original display that are include are those of a display plaque listing information about the goal, an 8" x 10" photo of Ciccarelli, a couple of his Red Wings hockey cards and a Red Wings souvenir logo puck.
Originally all housed in a display together as a group that was on display at "Ciccarelli's Premier Sports Club and Eatery" restaurant as well as the other frame with three (3) photos used to photo-match the puck, the items are all from the personal collection of Dino Ciccarelli and will be accompanied by his singed LOA.
