Concluding their 32nd NHL season in third place, the Detroit Red Wings began the 1957-58 campaign with training camp in Sault Ste Marie in September of 1957, with numerous exhibition matches taking place over four nights including against the WHL’s Edmonton Flyers. This rare original poster advertising the exhibition matches along with training camp has been team-signed by the 1957-58 Red Wings, including deceased HOFers Terry Sawchuk, Gordie Howe, Marcel Pronovost, Red Kelly and Jack Adams. At 11” x 14” and featuring screened graphics in bright Motor City red, the poster advertises the games and lists the venue as the Pullar Community Building, with ticket prices along the base. A small sticker showing the image of the front has been affixed to the center reverse, with 27 signing in blue ballpoint in two rows, including the aforementioned Sawchuk, Howe, Pronovost, Kelly and Adams, along with Wilson, Ullman, Delvecchio, Arbour, Dineen, Riebel, Dea, Kennedy, Prystai, Leswick, Fielder, Godfrey, McCarthy and a few others. The signatures display beautifully, with the Howe and Sawchuk large, flawless examples. A few of the other signers most likely originate from the exhibition games, with a bit of creasing to the obverse and tape stains at each corner of the reverse.
