Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
First awarded to Jean Beliveau at the conclusion on the 1964-65 NHL playoffs, the Conn Smythe Trophy is fairly unique in sport, awarded to the MVP of the entire postseason, as opposed to just the championship series or finals. Produced by Boffey in the 1990s, exquisitely detailed and majestic in appearance, this 15” trophy features a metal replica of Maple Leaf Gardens mounted to a three tier finished wooden base, with a large imposing maple leaf overshadowing. A plaque on the base’s top tier details the trophies particulars including “Conn Smythe Trophy” and “To be awarded annually to the Outstanding Player of the Playoffs”, with brown felt adhered to the underside. There is tarnishing and surface wear to the metal components throughout, with a bit of additional wear including a few scratches to the wooden base.
