Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Carefully replicated here by craftsman Don Scott is this fascinating collection of vintage replica masks that would look stunning on display. Seven sensational early masks that bear absolutely no resemblance to today’s face protectors, including a replica of the famed Gerry Cheever’s mask filled with stitches, signed on the front by Cheevers, and a Tony Esposito example, signed by Tony. Both signatures are in clear dark marker. Also included are Gilles Gilbert, Ed Giacomin, Jacques Plante, and Terry Sawchuk replica masks, with Esposito’s, Cheever’s, and Gilbert’s signed on the inside by Mr. Scott. The 7th is a replica mask made in Lefty Wilson style, longtime trainer for the Detroit Red Wings. All 7 masks were created to look used and remain in vintage yet great condition. The Cheevers autograph comes with a COA signed by Don Scott.
Scott's amazing work is highly sought-after by goalie mask collectors and he has thoroughly researched vintage and modern mask making techniques in order to create the best reproductions on the market.
