Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Rarely if ever found in such aesthetically pleasing and displayable condition, we have an attractive pair of skates worn by a member of the California Golden Seals in the early-1970s, circa 1972-73. The epitome of 1970s styling, the CCM Super Tacks boots are in solid white with green leather fittings, with size 11 1/3 CCM Prolite blades. “5” has been handwritten in marker on the bottom of each boot, with an intact piece of tape with “9” on the reverse of the left skate (there was also tape over the right skate, with just the residue now visible). Ivan Boldirev wore #5 in 1972-73, while #9 was worn by Rick Smith. In beautiful surviving condition with nice expected wear from use but no obtrusive damage, the skates originate from the personal collection of noted netminder Don Simmons, with an LOA from his family to accompany.
