The California Golden Seals brought an unexpected splash of color to the NHL when eccentric owner Charlie O. Finley decided to move away from traditional black hockey skates for his team to the colourful green and gold coloured boots seen here that were utilized by the club during the 1970-71 campaign when team coloured skates were a popular trend in the game. Used for only about a season and a half before Finley brought in the infamous white skates the Seals would become known for starting in January of 1972, the skates offered here, in Seals Kelly green and California gold leather are CCM Tacks models that are a size 7 1/2 based on the stamping that is still visible on the inside of each skate's ankle padding. Void of any player identifiers or laces but showcasing plenty of game-wear via numerous nicks, cuts, scrapes, scuffs, slash marks and stick marks, the boots have been fitted with CCM Prolite blades, which exhibit heavy rusting and are riveted to leather undersoles that have “CCM Tackaberry Prolite” stamps. A fascinating piece of hockey history, don't let these pass you by!
