Feared by each and every NHL netminder for his legendary shot - arguably the greatest all-time, Bobby Hull frustrated keepers further by using an exaggeratedly large curved blade that added an unpredictable flight path to an already deadly projectile. The owner of 913 professional regular season goals between his time in both the National Hockey League and World Hockey Association and a champion of both the Stanley Cup and AVCO Cup, offered here is this stick used by "The Golden Jet" as a member of the Chicago Black Hawks during the 1968-69 season in which he set NHL career highs in goals (58) and points (107). A CCM Custom Pro model with "B Hull" and his number "9" stamped over the upper shaft, an additional stamp from Gunzo's of Berwyn, Illinois is found over the forehand side of the upper shaft as well. Retaining Bobby's original black tape job over the shaved handle/knob, most of the vintage black cloth covering that once graced the blade has been removed though the middle portion still remains. With a plastic display plaque that reads "Bobby Hull - 50th Goal, 1968-69" screwed on over the forehand side of the shaft, covering a handwritten annotation in black marker ink underneath that reads "1968-69 50th Goal", the stick was acquired by our consignor directly from Hull who relayed the story that it was once on display in the Hockey Hall of Fame and taken back out by him upon Alan Eagleson's guilty plea in January of 1998. Of note, another stick also attributed to being from Hull's 49th and 50th goals of the same season as previously come to market. With the accent sticker that was once found around the bottom of the shaft no longer present and exhibiting good evidence of game-use, dark marks are seen over the area of the lower shaft and heel while others are spotted over the originally untaped sections of the blade as well. With evidence of the once applied black tape seen throughout the now bare part of the blade, it is also worth pointing out that there is a good sized crack in the blade that extends in front the bottom of the toe towards the middle, with some light wear also observed over the bottom of the blade along with a couple of green coloured dried paint dots over the backhand side of the lower shaft/heel and a lone red post paint transfer mark as well. Displaying well and ready for a place in your Blackhawks/Hull shrine, don't miss out on this key "Golden Jet" offering.
