Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Bringing a certain “Broad Street Bully” element to Detroit during his tenure, Bob Probert proved to be hard as nails, and was recognized as one of the toughest players in modern history while also adept at putting the puck in the net. Signing with the Chicago Blackhawks after nine seasons in the Motor City and playing the final seven (7) seasons of his NHL career in Chicago, offered here is this stick used by Probert as a member of the Blackhawks in the late-1990s. A Koho made Revolution model twig with "Probert" stamped over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of white around the handle/knob as well as the blade. Sporting a production code stamp reading "023 2" over the underside of the lower shaft, the stick shows game-use via puck marks over both sides of the blade tape, a small tear over the forehand side of the blade tape plus a loose strand near the toe and various other dark marks and abrasions throughout, including over the lower shaft and heel. Additionally, also included with the stick is an early-2000s Blackhawks helmet pro model helmet that has been signed by Probert. Made by CCM and black in colour, Blackhawks decals are affixed over each side of the piece while his number "24" has been added over the lower reverse along with an NHL shield sticker. With all the padding as well as the strapping harness present and accounted for (some of the padding is loose), the helmet does not appear to have ever been worn and remains good and clean throughout despite some scuffs/scratches and other abrasions over the exterior. Signed by Probert over the crown with a worn silver marker ink signature, a JSA Auction LOA will accompany the piece.
