Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

The 1986-87 Oilers regained Campbell Conference supremacy with a vengeance one year after a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to Calgary in the conference final interrupted their Stanley Cup dynasty. Gretzky and Co. disposed of L.A. in five and swept four straight from Winnipeg before taking out Detroit in five to win the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl for the fourth time in five years. This personal Campbell Bowl trophy was presented by the NHL to Oilers trainer Barrie Stafford, whose name and “Edmonton Oilers, 1986-87” are engraved on one side of the silver-plated lidded bowl. The trophy, which stands 11” tall overall, is very nicely preserved and comes with Barrie Stafford’s signed LOA.
“Clarence S. Campbell Bowl” and its “1968” inception year are engraved on the opposite side of the two-handled bowl. The Boffey manufacturer’s sticker remains affixed to the green felt underneath the 3” tall six-sided wood base, which has a few marks on one side that include a small gouge on the bottom edge, a chip on the right side, and a mark/gouge below that near the bottom. There is another mark/small gouge on the bottom left of the side two panels to the left.
