This remarkable gold ring was presented exclusively to members of the Toronto Maple Leafs as the team honoured the closing of its long-time home, Maple Leaf Gardens. Built by Conn Smythe at the height of the Great Depression, the Gardens opened in 1931 and the Maple Leafs christened their new ice palace with a Stanley Cup win the next spring. The Leafs claimed 11 Stanley Cups at MLG, which hosted its last game in 1999. This gorgeous 10-karat gold ring was presented to WHA and NHL superstar Anders Hedberg, who served as a scout with the Leafs from 1991 to 1997, as well as the club's general manager from 1997 to 1999. Size 11 with a weight of 20 grams, the Gardens' exterior appears in relief on the tableau, surrounded by an oval ring with "Memories & Dreams" in raised letters. The left shank features "1931" in raised gold along with the club's two earliest team logos and the words "LOYALTY AND DEDICATION", while the right shank sports "1999" and the Maple Leafs' two modern logos, with a banner beneath with "1991" engraved for the year Hedberg began working for the team. The inner band is stamped "10K FR", with Hedberg’s initials engraved. Remaining in beautiful condition, the ring exhibits light wear throughout including a few minor scratches to the outer band, with a small blemish to the interior band. Originally from his personal collection, the ring will be accompanied by a signed LOA from Anders Hedberg.
