Miniature Stanley Cups are valuable enough on their own, so how do you value this one for the 1957-58 Montreal Canadiens from the first year these gorgeous and highly sought individual trophies were presented? This original silver beauty was presented to defenseman Albert "Junior" Langlois and it was the only miniature Cup presented to members of the Canadiens during the team's record run of five straight championships in the late-1950s. The Habs had a tremendous 1957-58 season, topping the NHL with 96 points while Dickie Moore and Henri Richard finished 1-2 in scoring. In the playoffs, the Canadiens tied the Maple Leafs' record of three consecutive Stanley Cup titles, first sweeping the Red Wings before being pushed to 6 games by a brave Bruins squad. Rocket Richard led post-season scorers with 11 goals including an important overtime winner in game 5 and Beliveau had a goal and an assist in the game 6 clincher, with Bernie Geoffrion scoring the winner in a 5-3 outcome in Boston. This amazing memento from the championship season features the engraved names on the barrel of the men who made it happen. Team President Senator Molson, GM Frank Selke, VP Kenny Reardon, coach Toe Blake and captain Maurice Richard are grouped above the enviable cast of players headed by Beliveau and featuring the likes of Geoffrion, Harvey, Johnson, Moore, Olmstead,Plante, Provost and Talbot, to name just a few. The silver-plated holy grail was produced by "Peterson" and is in wonderful condition overall, with an indentation on the first curved tier above the trophy's barrel, directly above the word "National". Langlois has signed in black marked on the original green felt beneath the black wooden base. For very serious collectors of very special awards, this is the one! Albert "Junior" Langlois will sign a letter of authenticity that will be included with this stirring keepsake.
