Perfect for display and a wonderful representation of mid-century board games featuring sports, we have a collection of 9, featuring hockey, baseball, football and horse racing. Highlighted by an extremely rare Russian “Hockey” board game issued by the Soviets during the height of the cold war (1964), the box (9 ¼” x 11 ½”) feature’s all Cyrillic text, and appears to be complete, with game board, inserts, 8 plastic players (4 blue, 4 orange) and even the original puck. The box and board both exhibit moderate wear and display beautifully, with a tear to the box, and it appears to have never been used. Next, we have a “Pro Miniature Hockey” game from 1955, appearing complete with the large playing board (19” x 25”) in beautiful condition, with the pieces appearing complete, and moderate wear to the large box (12 ¾” x 19 ¼”) including a torn apron with a small section missing. This is followed by Blue Line Hockey from 3M, produced in 1968, with just light wear to the box (10” x 17 ½”) including an apron tear, with the game in otherwise high grade and appearing complete. For baseball, we have Big League Baseball by Copp Clark from the circa late-1930s, with the box (8 ¼” x 16 ¼”) showing heavy wear along the aprons, with tears, separations and tape repairs. The interior and playing board also show moderate to heavier wear, with a few playing pieces and a pair of wooden dice. This is followed by Jim Prentice’s Electric Baseball from the 1950s, with the large box (14” x 18 ¾”) having heavy wear including tears, tape repairs and soiling, with the game board also showing wear. The final baseball game is Big League Baseball Magnetic Dart Game by Magic Wand, with the box (11 ¼” x 14”) and metal board game both showing very heavy wear, with separations to the box aprons, tape repair and spotting/soiling. Football is up next, and we start with an attractive Pigskin game from 1956 by Parker Bros., with the large box (13” x 18”) with wonderful period graphics fairly clean and ideal for display, with wear along edges, and a pair of separated apron corners along with a seam tear. Appearing complete with cards, score pad and numerous playing pieces, the game has been used but well loved. The second game is Canadian Football from the early-1960s, with gorgeous period graphics and a clean displayable surface on the large box (15” x 22”). Produced by Sommerville, there is a pair of apron splits and light to moderate wear to the interior playing surface. The lone horse racing game is Sweepstakes, also produced by Sommerville circa-1950s, with an elaborate fold-out playing board (9” x 54”) and beautiful horse racing graphics. The game appears complete, with moderate wear to the box including a pair of apron separations, along with edge wear and light water staining (bottom of the box). Finally, we also have just the board (18” x 30”) included for National League Hockey from the 1950s, with heavy wear including a separation.
