Team Canada 1972 was the clear-cut choice as Canada’s “Team of the Century” in a poll conducted by the Canadian Press. This substantial trophy was presented to Team Canada star Vic Hadfield to commemorate the November 2000 unveiling of the historic monument dedicated to the team at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Attractive and substantial marble-base award presented by the Royal Canadian Mint stands 13 1/2” tall and features English and French plaques on either side. A silver-coloured maple leaf is mounted atop the heavy marble base, with the Mint’s commemorative 25th anniversary silver dollar set in the middle. Text on the English side reads “Award presented by the Royal Canadian Mint to: Vic Hadfield - #11”. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Mr. Hadfield will accompany.
Regarding condition, the mounted maple leaf exhibits some surface wear, with dark streaks over the top front section, with a black blemish over the reverse. The base itself exhibits just light wear, with no unsightly marks or damage. The maple leaf is also able to swivel on the base slightly.
