Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Packed with Hall of Fame talent and ascending to the top of the hockey world during the early-1960s, the Toronto Maple Leafs would be crowned Stanley Cup champions four times in just six seasons which included a trio of consecutive titles, from 1962 to 1964. Offered here, we present this stick that has been signed by eighteen (18) members of those Stanley Cup champion Maple Leafs that likely dates from either the 1962-63 or 1963-64 seasons based on the inclusion of Don Simmons. A full sized generic wooden stick made by Sherbrooke Wood Products that measures roughly 53" in length, the "Pro Special - Jr" model displays faded stamps over both sides of the shaft as well as additional stamps reading "Left" and "4" over the upper shaft. Retaining a mostly intact striping accent sticker over the lower shaft, the stick remains in good condition with some handling wear/age apparent throughout via some marks and abrasions. Never having had any tape applied to it and displaying a drilled near the top of the shaft on one side, those that have signed the stick include deceased Hockey Hall of Fame inductee's Tim Horton, George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Allan Stanley and Punch Imlach as well as fellow HOFers Dave Keon, Dick Duff, Bob Pulford and Frank Mahovlich plus Don Simmons, Billy Harris, Bob Baun, Ron Stewart, Eddie Litzenberger, Eddie Shack, Carl Brewer and Kent Douglas. all signed in a mix of blue or red ballpoint pen ink or pencil (Shack and Simmons), most of the signatures display without issue despite some lightness from age while those of Keon and Douglas, two (2) of the three (3) signed in red are quite faded.
