Under the tutelage of Leafs legend Joe Primeau and captained by Ted Kennedy, the 1950-51 edition of the Toronto Maple Leafs would finish with a record of 41–16–13 to sit 2nd in the National Hockey League behind the Detroit Red Wings. Knocking off the Boston Bruins in six (6) games during the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, setting up a matchup with the Montreal Canadiens, every game of the Finals would go to overtime with young Leafs defenceman, Bill Barilko, ending in Game 5 with his now famous marker giving the Leafs the Cup with the final goal of his career as Barilko would tragically perish that summer in a plane crash. Offered here, we present this goalie stick that has been signed by nineteen (19) individuals including eighteen (18) members of the 1950-51 Toronto Maple Leafs. An unbranded goalie stick that features black and blue coloured accent stripes over the handle and paddle, the lumber retains its original vintage black cloth tape job over the upper shaft/knob and blade while a "Doug Laurie Sports - 458 Carlton St, Maple Leaf Gardens" stamp graces one side of the paddle and displays with ink running. Remaining in overall good condition with evidence of use seen via puck marks and red post paint transfers, some wear is observed to the bottom of the heel and a nail is found in the same area, some discolouration of the shaft is worth noting for accuracy. Signed by nineteen (19) in either blue ballpoint or black fountain pen ink, those that have signed the stick include; Ted Kennedy (heavily faded), Tod Sloan (smudged), Hugh Bolton (smudged), Fern Flaman, Jim Thomson, Howie Meeker, Bill Juzda, Al Rollins, Max Bentley (partially faded), Turk Broda, Flemming Mackell, Sid Smith, John McCormack, Danny Lewicki, Gus Mortson, Joe Klukay, Harry Watson, Ray Timgren and Cal Gardner as well as non-Maple Leaf, Al Dewsbury. With the signatures all remaining legible and largely in good shape unless otherwise noted above, don't miss out on this special vintage offering.
