Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
In his first season as captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ted Kennedy would put up 39 points in 59 games played during the regular season and added 8 points in 9 playoff games, leading the Leafs. Their 3rd Stanley Cup in a row, this was the first time an NHL team had accomplished the feat and gave the league its first dynasty. Hailing from the 1948-49 season, we offer this Stanley Cup Championship tray presented to captain Ted Kennedy. Measuring 13 ½” in diameter, the silver-plated tray features wonderfully engraved script listing particulars including “National Hockey League Stanley Cup Winners Season 1948-49, Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club Ltd. – Theodore Kennedy – Captain” that is displayed in the middle of an engraved “Sheffield Reproduction” motif. Three stamped hallmarks appear over the reverse with “S.P Copper” engraved meaning “silver plated on copper”. Scratches and scuffing appear on the reverse with the front showing scratches throughout as well as a small scuff near the “S” in Stanley and a small dent at the far right side. An LOA from the Kennedy family will accompany.
