Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Ted Kennedy's creamy wool Toronto Maple Leafs cardigan dates back to the 1940s or very early-1950s. The vintage black and white photograph that accompanies the lot pictures Kennedy posing beside his car with this exact sweater draped over his arm. A dangling collar tag proves the cardigan was crafted in genuine wool by Monarch and the cream and blue sweater still has all nine original buttons. Sadly, the original Maple Leafs crest is missing but the piece came to us from the family with a vintage chenille veined-leaf crest pinned to the pocket. Keep it all original or replace the crest with the one provided, the choice is yours. We must note that the blue dye has bled into the white in areas, otherwise the cardigan has been preserved in excellent condition. Obtained from the family of former Leafs' captain Ted Kennedy, complete with their signed letter of provenance.
