Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

The jersey that struck fear into the opposition during the Montreal Canadiens’ powerful 1970's dynasty is one that will forever be popular and revered. Formidable scorer Steve Shutt donned this dandy signed durene Habs road jersey during the 1979 Stanley Cup finals, and amazingly, it’s been photo-matched! A size 44 Wilson tag is in the neck and a garter-style fight strap in the tail. Terrific game use includes a circular team repair and a dozen small holes on the front, along with a half dozen slash marks in the Canadiens tri-color tackle twill crest. Burns, small holes (8) and red paint transfer are on the left sleeve while the right features a tiny repair, burns and a good scrape in one of the "2"s. Evidence of the nameplate having been removed and sewn back on, common during the era, is there, along with Shutt's nice black marker autograph on the second "2". A LOA will accompany this important jersey.
Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, a pair of included screen shots from the Stanley Cup finals have been utilized, with one from game #3 on May 17th matched to a mark on the lower portion of the first "2" of "22" on the reverse, and to the placement of the numbers (left number lower than right number), while a screen shot from game #4 on May 19th has been matched to the mark on the lower portion of the first "2" of "22" on the reverse.
