Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
The 1st overall pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sidney Crosby has played in over 1200 National Hockey League games since his career began, every one of them in the black and gold uniform of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Owning a trophy case that includes numerous awards such as a trio of Stanley Cup championships, a pair of Olympic gold medals, two (2) Art Ross Trophies, two (2) Hart Trophies, and two (2) Conn Smythe Trophies along with many others, offered here is this helmet issued to Sid for his use during the circa 2007-08 season. A Reebok made 8K model bucket in white that retains all its padding on the interior as well as its original strapping harness and chin strap, a manufacture date/size sticker reading "16-NOV-2007" is still affixed to the interior and not worn out, suggesting that the helmet was never put into use/rotation. Still having an Oakley branded visor affixed to the front of the helmet, Penguins decals are seen over both sides while a Reebok logo graces the forehead. Of note, Crosby last wore a helmet with this specific logo style during the 2007-08 season before a switch was made. Also sporting stickers for Crosby's number "87" over the lower reverse as well as one depicting the National Hockey League's shield emblem, the helmet shows no obvious signs of game-use but displays with some marks/scuffs/abrasions throughout from handling. Signed by Crosby over the top of the helmet with a black marker ink signature that displays with moderate wear and is worn away in some areas, the helmet hails from the personal collection of an important hockey executive and comes accompanied by his signed LOA.
Additionally, also included with the helmet is a Penguins jersey that has been signed by Crosby as well. A replica model offering made by Reebok that sports size "XL" tagging and has the original retain tags affixed to the left cuff, the front, reverse and sleeves have all been customized with sublimated twill letters, numbers and crests. Remaining in overall excellent condition, Crosby has signed the jersey through the top of the "7" on the reverse with a silver marker ink signature that displays without issue.
