Superb heavy mesh Nike Oilers jersey was worn by long-time NHL netminder Ron Low during his last year in Edmonton in 1982-83. The "NIKE" identifier and the company swoosh are screened onto the right rear hem with a size XL fly tag is in the neck (additional X marked in pen). The big Oilers crest in tackle twill is sewn on the front, as are the numbers and "Low" across the nameplate. Ron has signed his name on the back numbers. A 1983 Universiade (University Games) patch is displayed on the right shoulder. Game use is light as Ron was the goalie of record in only 3 games (104 minutes of action) before moving on to New Jersey to join the Devils. We spot a few marks including a nice dark slash up on one shoulder and there is a small skate slice on the lower front. A terrific jersey from an exciting time in franchise history.
This would be the first season the Oilers would wear Nike jerseys and they would continue to wear this heavy-mesh style until the close of the 1988-89 season. After 1983, the Nike uniforms would move their logo to the opposite side due to Wayne Gretzky's habit of tucking the right side of his shirt into his pants.
