A product of the OMJHL's Sudbury Wolves that would be drafted 13th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft as well as 14th overall by the Cleveland Crusaders of the WHA that same year, Rod Schutt would choose the route of the National Hockey League and would play a total of 286 NHL games over the course of his career with the likes of Montreal, Pittsburgh and Toronto. A Calder Cup champion in 1977, offered here is this Pittsburgh Penguins jersey donned by Schutt at the beginning of the 1982-83 season. A rare seld seen General Athletic made garment, these jerseys served as Pittsburgh's set one (1) sweaters during the season before a switch to Sandow SK branded shirts. Made of a heavyweight mesh and sporting a lone size "XXL" label affixed to the inner collar, the front of the jersey is decorated with a Penguins team crest that has been administered in layered tackle twill. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Schutt's number "27" in dual layer yellow-over-white tackle twill numerals "Schutt" is spelt out in screened on single layer yellow letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Void of a fight strap on the interior and worn for just a couple of games, the jersey shows game-wear via stick marks and board burns over both sleeves as well as team repairs and coloured board paint transfers over the left elbow area. Also showing a stitched reinforcement at the bottom of the collar and minor discoloration to the white stripes, the jersey comes accompanied by an LOA.
