Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Recognized as the “Original Ranger”, Bill Cook served as the first Blueshirts captain in history, and scored the New York Rangers inaugural franchise goal. Cook would enlist with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War and would join the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds upon his return. The HOFer would also play for the Guelph Knights of Columbus, with this rare cabinet team photo hailing from approx the early-1920s. At roughly 8” x 10”, the black and white image has been affixed to a 12” x 14” mount, with the team pictured lined-up along the ice including Cook. Handwritten text on the reverse states “Guelph Knights of Columbus Hockey Team”, “Champions City Amateur League” and “Winners of MacDonald Trophy”. There is also a date written that appears to be possibly 1922.
There is minor surface wear to the image and scuff marks, with additional wear to the mount including some staining on the reverse.
