Suiting up for four (4) of his six (6) National Hockey League seasons in the famed red, white and blue of the Montreal Canadiens, Paul DiPietro would score twice in Montreal's Stanley Cup clinching game 5 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at the Montreal Forum on June 9th, 1993, capping off a year that saw the Canadiens finish with a record of 48-30-6 during the regular season and knocking off Quebec, Buffalo and New York in the playoffs before their Finals matchup with the Kings. Offered here, is this Prince of Wales Trophy awarded to DiPietro for the Montreal Canadiens status as Wales Conference playoff champions in 1992-93. At 13” in height, four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from a 2 ½” wooden base to support a cup with an affixed coat of arms and removable lid. A plaque affixed over the front of the wooden base states, “Prince of Wales Trophy”, with “Paul DiPietro” engraved beneath, with a second plaque over the reverse sporting, "NHL Champions – Montreal Canadiens – 1992-93". Made by Boffey of Montreal with their sticker affixed to the brown felt on the underside of the base, the trophy remains in good condition with some minor scratches, scuffs and tarnishing and is firmly affixed to the wooden base though the leaves found over the top of the removable lid have broken off. Accompanied by its original blue drawstring bag and black box that has a foil NHL shield logo decal affixed to the one side and a small label reading "DiPietro" over the top, both also remain in excellent condition with just light age and handling wear observed. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by DiPietro will accompany the piece.
