Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Captaining the Montreal Canadiens throughout most of their epic dynasty in the late-1950s when they captured five-consecutive Stanley Cup championships, Maurice Richard was the de facto leader of the Habs throughout his tenure, with his monumental stature acknowledged as the first non-politician honoured by the province of Quebec with a state funeral. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and possibly displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre, we have a Hall of Fame honoured member framed photo of Montreal’s greatest player. At 8” x 9 ½” (exposed), the image is a modern print, with the Rocket seen plotting one of his 544 career goals. A gold-coloured name plaque listing his induction year (1961) has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to 16” x 16”, with some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
