Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The only player in history to captain two different clubs to Stanley Cup championships and the last active player upon his retirement in 2004 that witnessed action in the WHA, Mark Messier is a veteran of over 1700 regular season NHL games, with appearances made in an astounding 15 All-Star Games and a total of six Stanley Cup's to his credit. Hailing from the 2002-03 season during his second stint as a member of the New York Rangers, offered here is this signed stick used by Messier. A TPS Response Rubber model with "Messier" stamped over the shaft along with a factory serial number, the stick retains its original tape job of black over both the handle/knob and blade. Exhibiting moderate game-use with marks and abrasions to the shaft and some wear/marks to the taped section of blade as well, it appears as though the stick was once bundled together with tape to other sticks based on the ring of residue at the lower shaft. Structurally sound and free from any cracks or breaks, Messier has signed the forehand side of the lower shaft with a black ink signature that displays without issue other than a very small amount of even fading throughout from age.
