Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

Mario Lemieux was Wayne Gretzky’s choice to lead Canada back to Olympic gold in 20002, and Super Mario came through like a champ as Team Canada’s captain in Salt Lake. Le Magnifique used this Nike Quest 3 gamer during the 2002 Olympic tournament, which saw Canada ultimately defeat the host United States to claim its first ice hockey gold medal in 50 years. “M. Lemieux” is factory printed on the shaft of this solid and crack-free wood wonder with “Team Canada” and the Nike swoosh. Mario’s standard tape jobs are on the knob and blade, which shows game use in the form of wear to the bottom edge, including a worn-through strand near the heel. A golden find of a game-used stick!
