Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
One of the six original franchises that joined the NHL during the post-Original Six expansion of 1967, the Los Angeles Kings have earned a trio of Conference championships along with a pair of Stanley Cup victories during their NHL tenure thus far, with a number of notable superstars serving under the crown including Wayne Gretzky, Marcel Dionne and Luc Robitaille. Produced to celebrate the club’s 25th anniversary in the early-1990s, this large limited-edition lithograph on styrofoam (numbered AP 20/32) has been multi-signed by individuals instrumental in the Kings’ history, and it originates from the personal collection of legendary Kings’ superstar Luc Robitalle. At approx 38” x 50”, a number of game-action sequences have been utilized, awash in the Kings’ original colours of gold, purple and black. A 25th anniversary logo sits centered over the base, with each signing in pencil beneath the image, including Robitaille, along with Gretzky, Dionne, Taylor and others. A signed LOA from Luc Robitaille will accompany.
The additional signers include Rogie Vachon, Butch Goring, Jerry Buss, Bernie Nicholls, Jack Kent Cooke, Bob Miller and Bruce McNall. There is some toning to the piece throughout (it was formerly framed, with the matting border visible), with a few corner bends and some edge wear.
A portion of the sales from the Luc Robitaille personal collection will benefit the Echoes of Hope Foundation. Founded in 2007 by Stacia and Luc Robitaille, Echoes of Hope strives to awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of children, youth, and young adults in need by alleviating barriers and helping them reach their full potential.
