Playing junior hockey with the New Westminster Bruins of the WCHL and college hockey with the University of Denver Pioneers in the NCAA, Ken Berry would be drafted 112th overall by the Vancouver Canucks at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft and go on to play a total of fifty-five (55) games over the course his National Hockey League career, split between the Edmonton Oilers and Canucks. Also having represented Team Canada at the 1980 and 1988 Winter Olympic Games, offered here is this Team Canada jersey worn by Berry during the 1988 Winter Olympic Games on home soil in Calgary, Alberta. Made by CCM, a Maska Air-Knit label displaying a faded size "50" designation is affixed to the inner collar while the embroidered CCM logo usually seen over the reverse hem has been covered up by a piece of red twill to comply with IOC/IIHF regulations for the Olympics. Having been hemmed to Berry's liking, the front and shoulders of the jersey have been decorated with large and small sized Team Canada crests while the sleeves and verso have been styled with Berry's number "9" in a mix of dual layer and single layer tackle twill numerals. Having had "Berry" spelt out in single layer red twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse, the jersey retains its fight strap on the interior and shows excellent game-wear via things like heavy stick marks, board burns, coloured board paint transfers and small fabric snags throughout the body and both sleeves (which have been shortened to Berry's preference) while the interior shows light pilling around the hem. Regarding the photo-match, the jersey has been matched to an image of Berry taken during Team Canada's contest versus Switzerland on February 16th, 1988 which shows a match to the placement of the layers in the "9" on the reverse.
