Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

Representing the third oldest team in all of professional football, the Saskatchewan Roughriders were originally founded as the Regina Rugby Club in 1910. This Roughriders alternate jersey was worn by center Jeremy O’Day in the early-to-mid-2000s. Size and date tagging of “03-48” is affixed to the collar, with a Puma patch on the lower front which includes handwritten “48”. A Rona sponsor crest sits over the right breast, with a “13” patch over the left. The Riders wore these black alternate jerseys a few times per season for special games (Labour Day, playoffs, etc) from 2002 to 2006 and they were recycled from year to year. We should note that Puma patches on the shoulders and back of the neck were covered with a Reebok logo. Puma had supplied CFL jerseys for the 2001 and 2002 seasons but Reebok took over in 2003. Reebok didn't have time to prepare new jerseys and just sewed Reebok logos over the existing Puma jerseys for the 2003 season. The "13" patch on the breast was most likely changed at some point as well, as these alternate jerseys were also worn with a retro Riders logo patch on the breast. O’Day has signed on the upper section of the back “4” in marker, and the signature is perfect. With just light wear to mention, including a few rubs to the front numbers, the jersey remains in gorgeous condition.
