Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

The first excessively large gentleman with exceptional hands to grace the NHL, big Jean Beliveau’s tenure with the Habs lasted for two decades, and he was the fourth player to score 500 goals and the second to score 1,000 points in NHL history. Winning a total of ten (10) Stanley Cup championships as a player and seven (7) more as an executive, all with the famed bleu, blanc et rouge, Jean would be inducted into the hallowed hall of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972. Offered here, we offer this stick used by "Le Gros Bill" during the period of the mid-1950s as Montreal was running roughshod over the rest of the National Hockey League. A CCM Pattern Made Professional model offering with "Beliveau" and his number "4" stamped over the shaft, an additional stamp reading "Custom Made For" is present also but partially covered by the tape that graces handle/knob. Retaining its original tape job of white-over-black around the handle/knob and black around the blade, the stick also still sports its original stripping accent sticker around the lower shaft. Displaying CCM brand stamps over both sides of the shaft and a "Raymond's Hardware Sporting Goods Ltd." stamp on one side, Beliveau has signed the stick with a modern black marker ink signature that displays without issue over the backhand side of the lower shaft. Displaying game use in the form of dark marks and other abrasions throughout the shaft, lower shaft and heel areas, the blade tape also shows a tear on the backhand side with a puck mark underneath. Finally, there is wear to the heel on the underside and a red stain between the "4" and "Beliveau" stamps, it is also worth noting that the toe of the stick has a notch/crack running in towards the middle under the tape that does not affect the structural integrity of the piece.
