Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
The artistic wizardry of the late great Dewitt "Tex" Coulter has the beholder smiling in admiration as the former football great masterfully illustrates a classic Canadiens/Maple Leafs battle. Jacques Plante is depicted without face protection while the rest of the Montreal and Toronto subjects are made to look like generic players, a sometimes Coulter trait, with this unique piece most likely used for either Forum program covers or Canadiens calendars. Originally obtained years ago from a longtime Montreal Canadiens' secretary, the one-of-a-kind eye candy awaits its new appreciative home. Signed in standard "TEX" fashion, the artwork is approximately 13" x 20" (exposed) and has been professionally framed to 15 ½” x 22 ½”, with light wear to the frame.
