Beginning his professional career in his homeland of Sweden with three (3) seasons as a member of Brynas IF in the SHL after two (2) years developing in their junior system, Jacob Markstrom, due to solid performances in the Swedish Hockey League and internationally for Sweden in the Under 18 and World Junior tournaments, would hear his name called 31st overall at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft as the first choice of the Florida Panthers. Becoming one of the best goalies in the National Hockey League as evident by his All-Star Game nod in 2020, offered here is this mask worn by Markstrom during the early portion of the 2013-14 season with the Panthers before he was traded to Vancouver. A Bauer model with intact strapping and a gold chrome cats eye cage over the front, the paint design was executed by famed mask artist DaveArt and is entitled “The Palm Tree Mask/Florida Beach Life” with a DaveArt signature appearing beside the left eye. Featuring a beautiful and bold palm tree design with the Panthers logo coming out from behind it at the top of the shell, matching rising suns are seen behind behind both ears while the trunk of the tree decorates the chin area. Having had Markstrom's number "25" and Panthers alternate logos airbrushed in a ghostly style throughout along with yellow coloured ghost flames, the red coloured backplate features personal notations and memorials that are important to the goaltender in question. Exhibiting nice use with some marks over the shell as well as a good sized above the right eyebrow going towards the top of the head, some minor chips are present near the chin as well while the interior shows light-to-moderate soiling and sweat staining. Missing the sweatband over the forehead on the interior, Getty Image #186536498 (October 27th, 2013 vs Tampa Bay) has been matched to the aforementioned chip above the right eyebrow that goes towards the top of the head while Getty Image #459414663 (December 19th, 2013 vs Ottawa) has been matched to the same chip as well as the chip at the top of the "E" in "Bauer", light marks over the right temple, the now worn away park over the sun behind the left ear and the marks/burnt ends of the elastic strap behind the right temple.
