Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

A riveting image here is that of long-time Quebec Bulldog John Patrick "Jack" McDonald, listed on the front of the real photo postcard as a left winger. McDonald had numerous runs with Quebec, joining the Vancouver Millionaires in 1912-13 after helping the Bulldogs to a Stanley Cup title the previous winter. He then returned east (Toronto Ontarios), played three more years for Quebec, before suiting up for the Montreal Wanderers and Canadiens during the NHL's first (1917-18) season. A NHL stint with the Bulldogs and games with the Canadiens and Toronto St. Pats concluded his lengthy 16-year career in 1921-22. The name of the photographer, "BEAUDRY", along with "PHOTO - QUEBEC" are embossed in the lower right corner of the card which has been trimmed to 3-1/4" by 4-7/8". The postcard "back" includes "1911" added in pencil. The thick/high turtleneck Quebec sweater donned by McDonald strikes the beholder of the fabulous find which has survived in appealing crease-free condition.
