Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
From a hyperactive toddler to the heralded, exclusive fine art and sports artist of W. Lopa Studios, Bill Lopa has always had a passion for art. An avid sports fan and die-hard Yankees fan, Lopa chose to concentrate his art in what he loved in a genre he found most challenging and enjoyable: kinetic impressionism. Working in acrylics, Lopa uses a splatter technique where the colors are applied with a pallet knife. The use of bold colors and splatter technique captures the image and spirit of an athlete in motion. Lopa artwork has been featured in art galleries across the country and is in the private collections of numerous athletes including Muhammad Ali, Tiki Barber, Roger Clemens and Michael Jordan to only name a few. This majestic painting by Lopa features Hall of Fame goaltender Grant Fuhr. Acrylic on canvas, the substantial work showcases an outstretched Fuhr in mid-save, as only Lopa could convey. Bright and aesthetically pleasing, Fuhr has signed to the right of his image along with added “HOF 03” and “5X Stanley Cup Champion”, while the artist Lopa has signed in the bottom left.
Housed in a beautiful gloss black frame to total dimensions of roughly “42 ¾” x 56 ½”, please note that special shipping arrangements will be required. An LOA from the artist William Lopa will also be included with this impressive art work.
