Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Splitting his time between the Montreal Canadiens and the AHL’s Quebec Aces during the 1965-66 season, Red Berenson would conclude his time with the world’s most famous hockey club as a Stanley Cup champion, with the Habs defeating their rival Detroit Red Wings in six games to claim their second consecutive championship and fourteenth in franchise history. We have a 1966 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup championship 10K gold ring that was presented to Red Berenson. Size 11 ½ with an approximate weight of 20 grams, a gold-coloured Stanley Cup sits inserted into an attractive red stone over the tableau, encompassed by “World Hockey Champions” in raised letters. The left shank feature’s a raised Habs logo with maple leaves below and “1965-66” above, while the right shank feature’s an NHL shield logo, with maple leaves below and “Berenson” above. The inner band is stamped “10K” along with a hallmark. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
In gorgeous condition, just light wear is visible on the important keepsake, with a small line visible along the outside of the band. There is also edge wear to note. We should also mention that this ring was previously mounted to a charm bracelet with a small eyelet mounted on the back inner band, with this professionally removed by a jeweler.
